Bridge Over Troubled Water

When I was in base camp in Vietnam, I played my radio 24/7. It was a transistor radio with a military 9-volt battery taped to the back. I remember one night I woke up and listened to a song that has been with me ever since. Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkle. I listened to it and I remember thinking it was God sending me a message. He had my back.

That song has become my mantra.

I knew it gave me support and encouragement at the moment; but a few months ago I realized it was there to guide me to help others. To be their bridge over troubled water.
