Black or White. Good or Bad. Yes or No.

A couple nights ago I stumbled across a movie on TV and decided to watch it. It was called The Shack and it was about a young girl's abduction. Usually, that kind of movie is too depressing for me but I was drawn to it for some reason.
Without spoiling it for you, let's just say the girl's father got a chance to talk with God, face to face. He was very bitter and angry that God let this happen to his daughter and to his family.
Thru his talks with God, he came to understand that God does not make horrendous deeds like his daughter's abduction happen. He gives man the ability to make decisions and some of those decisions are not good ones. But what God does do is give us the opportunity to see the positive side of the situation. And there always is a good side.
My dad used to say there is good in everything. Sometimes we have to look harder to see them. Such was the case in the movie.
Because of having constant conversations with God, the father learned that forgiveness is paramount to personal happiness. Hatred only prevents us from loving each other. It keeps us from moving on and being happy. And loving. Loving each other and loving ourselves.
Sulay has always seen things in black or white and I have always created a huge gray area for myself. But seeing this movie made me realize that the gray area I lived in was because it kept me in limbo and allowed me to be indecisive. To not commit to anything.
It let me remain in a state of indecision and to place blame everywhere except at the person in the mirror. But no more.
Humans have the ability to make decisions. No matter what our past has given us, we can still say yes to change. Don't stay in the gray area. Be strong. Make a positive choice to forgive yourself and see yourself with love.
It's either black or white. It's up to you.
